Bible Quote Apr 3rd Matthew 20: 17-19

“Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”” -Matthew 20: 17-19

Matthew wrote what is the first Gospel of the Bible. It is one of the three synoptic gospels, and relates how the Messiah, Jesus, rejected by Israel, sent out his disciples to preach the gospel to the whole world. It was probably written after 70AD.

Here in chapter 20, Jesus tells his disciples how he will give salvation to mankind. They don't get it. cf (Matthew 20:17–19; Mark 10:32-34; Luke 18:31-34). We understand, now, that the world is not as it should be. God has triumphed over the Devil and will fix everything. But He has not fixed it yet. He has told us how he will do it, but we don't get it.
