A saying ascribed to Solomon. This proverb on wisdom is illustrative of the Lord's heart for mankind. If the ascription is from later than Solomon, it might be referring to an impending sacking of Jerusalem, criticising Jewish leaders who strayed from faith, or if it is post exilic, it might be reinforcing the wisdom of Jewish leaders who held faith in exile. Today, Christians will more directly say that it applies to every individual.
