Bible Quotes Dec 18th Matthew 1:20-21

“But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.””
Matthew 1:20-21
Matthew wrote what is the first Gospel of the Bible. It is one of the three synoptic gospels, and relies how the Messiah, Jesus, rejected by Israel, sent out his disciples to preach the gospel to the whole world. It was probably written after 70AD.

Here, having provided a lineage of Jesus that represents covenants the Lord had made with his chosen people, Matthew describes why Joseph chose to raise a child that wasn't his son.
