“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” -Ephesians 5:1-2
Following a parent’s example is natural. Even orphaned children try to, with those they imprint on. And God is the ultimate Father. He loves us and indulges us. And so it is natural to want to copy Him.
But How? How does one follow Jesus? Should they attempt signs and wonders? Except signs and wonders are the pointers, the revelation of who Jesus was. Signs and wonders are not what Jesus calls us to do in following him, but being witnesses. The Holy Spirit still does perform signs and wonders today. But how does one follow Jesus?
We will die. Giving our life to the Lord is a small part of the choices we make. We must make it our life in devotion to Him. Work hard. Be trustworthy. Raise a family. Be kind. Be generous. Raise your children to know the Lord. Remember, there is always more to do, but don’t despair. For the Lord knows our heart and sees your choices.
